The project "Zdrowy Rarytas"

Zdrowy Rarytas

“Zdrowy Rarytas Project” What is it?

Zdrowy Rarytas Project – is our idea for healthy snacks which was created to meet the expectations of our health-conscious Customers.

The logo means that the product does not contain:

    - hydrogenated fats,

    - palm oil,

    - and has been made from carefully selected raw materials.

A healthy diet is becoming increasingly popular. More and more people want to eat well because diet plays a key role in maintaining health and therefore has a direct impact on life expectancy and quality of life.

However, it is hard to imagine good fun with friends without salty snacks. Therefore, our priority is to make high-quality salty snacks that our Customers can enjoy at various get-togethers. We have managed to improve our products to create new crackers with a beneficial dietary profile.

The most important aspect of the project is its innovation, which involves changing the manufacturing process of our biscuits. Therefore, when you buy our products – you choose high quality.

For this reason, Rarytas Sp. z o.o. produces crackers which take into account the health of our Consumers, crackers with unique physico-chemical properties, and most importantly, health-promoting properties through the radical reduction of:

acrylamide

3 MCPD

glycidyl esters

saturated fatty acids

Acrylamide – where does it come from?

Numerous scientific studies concerning the content of acrylamide in food indicate that increased amounts of acrylamide are present in starch-containing products which were baked, fried or grilled.

Acrylamide contamination has been found in products like crisps, potato chips, crackers, crisp bread, cereals (with the exception of oatmeal and muesli), roasted coffee, instant coffee, cereal coffee and many other popular foodstuffs. Fried vegetables, meat and fish are also contaminated, though to a lesser degree.

It has been confirmed that acrylamide damages nerves, impairs fertility and has carcinogenic properties.

In the course of studies on acrylamide, one more substance was discovered which occurs during heat processing, e.g. baking or toasting. It is 3-MCPD (3-monochloropropane-1,2-diol) with the  accompanying glycidyl esters, whose presence was observed in various refined fats and products containing them. Chloropropanols are considered to be mutagenic and genotoxic compounds which may cause numerous neoplastic cell transformation, from benign tumours to cancer.

In turn, saturated fatty acids are present mostly in animal fat and hard margarines.

They are considered to be harmful as they frequently contribute to obesity, increased levels of bad cholesterol and the risk of heart disease.

Saturated fatty acids are found mainly in: pork, lard, butter, cream, whole milk, high-fat types of cheese, coconut oil, cocoa butter, and palm oil which is not used in our products!!!

What have we done and what are we doing?

The Technology Department of Rarytas Sp. z o.o. together with the Quality Control Department commenced cooperation with a specialized research centre. Our unique CRACKERS are the fruit of many years of work.

Our health-oriented initiatives enabled us to participate in the Intelligent Development Operational Programme 2014–2020. Project axis no. 3: “Support for innovation in enterprises.”

The Programme is financed by the EU Regional Development Fund via the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development. In recognition of our efforts, we were granted a subsidy for further development and implementation of this extraordinary technology.

With a combination of own funds and the subsidy, Rarytas has already embarked on the construction of a new production hall with a warehouse, and most importantly, we have launched a buying procedure of a cutting-edge production line.

So far, the Project has already enabled us to make some changes in our crackers. For instance, we have removed palm oil from the list of ingredients of our products.

We require that our suppliers have all the necessary certificates and ensure the highest quality of raw materials. Otherwise we cannot work together.

The improved content of our food products opens up immense opportunities for innovation as well as market opportunities in promoting the healthiest products and making healthy choices easier. As a result of our works, according to the studies conducted by independent research facilities, in our biscuits the amounts of: acrylamides, 3-MPCD esters, glycidyl esters and saturated fatty acids are three times lower than in comparable products manufactured by our competitors.

As you can see, the results of our works are exceptional and unprecedented!

However, eating healthy is one thing, but what about the taste? Well, we’ve got it covered, too.

Check it out yourself! Try our products!

The new recipe for our product together with the manufacturing method have been patented by Rarytas Sp. z o.o.

The application was submitted on 5 August 2015 at the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland.

What’s next?

We anticipate that construction works will be finalised and the new line opened in February 2018. We’ll then have completed the key stage of the Zdrowy Rarytas Project. Simultaneously, we intend to continue our studies on the ingredients of our biscuits and therefore further our cooperation with the institutions involved in food production and new technologies. Continued monitoring of the savoury snacks market will allow us to “keep our ear to the ground” for new trends and flavours. We are already working on wholemeal crackers.

Apart from our existing contact method via our website www.rarytas.pl, we are about to establish a new social media communications channel using our brand Zdrowy Rarytas to enable you to present your opinions and suggestions to us quickly and easily.

However, in all our efforts, the quality of our products will always remain the most important factor.

All this for you and for the sake of your health… and this is not our last word.

Look in stores for our biscuits with this symbol on the package!
